Colorado Take-Home Pay by Pay Frequency (2026)

The same Colorado take-home figures divided across common pay schedules — what actually lands in your account each payday, after federal tax, FICA, Colorado state income tax, and the CO FAMLI premium.

Annual Salary Weekly52/yr Biweekly26/yr Semi-Monthly24/yr Monthly12/yr
$40,000 $636 $1,273 $1,379 $2,758
$60,000 $927 $1,854 $2,008 $4,016
$80,000 $1,191 $2,383 $2,581 $5,162
$100,000 $1,443 $2,886 $3,127 $6,254
$150,000 $2,062 $4,125 $4,468 $8,937
$200,000 $2,693 $5,386 $5,834 $11,669

Biweekly and semi-monthly are not the same thing. Biweekly means every other Friday — 26 paychecks a year, so two months each year contain three paydays. Semi-monthly means twice a month (often the 15th and the last day) — 24 slightly larger paychecks. On a $40,000 salary in Colorado, that difference is about $106 per check. Annual take-home is identical either way.

Single filer, no pre-tax deductions. Divides annual take-home evenly; real paychecks vary slightly with withholding rounding and benefit deductions.

What's different about a Colorado paycheck

Default withholding runs high

Colorado taxes income after the federal standard deduction, $16,100 for a single filer in 2026. But if you give your employer only a federal W-4, Colorado's withholding formula subtracts just $5,500 ($11,000 if married filing jointly) before applying 4.4%. A single filer ends up with about $466 a year too much withheld, which comes back as a refund. Filing form DR 0004 lets you set the allowance to match your expected deductions.

FAMLI paid leave: 0.44%

Colorado's paid family and medical leave premium is 0.88% of wages for 2026, down from 0.9%, up to the Social Security wage base. Employers with 10 or more employees can take up to half, 0.44%, from your pay and pay the rest themselves; smaller employers owe no share of their own. Some employers cover the whole premium. The tables on this page use 0.44%.

Denver's $5.75 a month

Colorado cities don't tax income, but Denver and a few others charge an occupational privilege tax. Denver's employers withhold $5.75 a month from anyone who earns at least $500 a month working in the city, $69 a year, and pay $4 a month per employee themselves. The calculator above leaves it out.

One rate for all pay

Colorado withholding uses a single rate, 4.4%, and the 2026 worksheet counts overtime as part of taxable wages for the pay period, so there are no brackets for extra pay to climb into.

Minimum wage

Colorado's minimum wage is $15.16 an hour for 2026. Full-time that is $31,533 a year, about $26,699 after taxes and FAMLI. Some cities, including Denver, set higher local minimums.

For the annual picture, including capital gains, credits, and filing deadlines, see the Colorado income tax calculator.

Colorado Income Tax Brackets (2026)

Colorado has a flat income tax of 4.4% for 2026. Both single and joint filers pay the same rate on all taxable income.

Standard Deduction
$16,100 single · $32,200 joint

Taxable income equals gross wages minus pre-tax deductions and the standard deduction.
